Lauren Stara, B. Arch, MLS

Lauren Stara possesses a unique combination of library and design skills. She became a Registered Architect in 1988 and has experience in traditional architectural planning and design as well as exhibit design for museums, theme park design and signage design. Her library career has spanned the past 24 years in both the United States and Canada; she has first-hand experience with planning and coordination of library renovation and building projects, space planning and interior design. Lauren has taught courses on various computer applications at the college level and was a Visiting Lecturer in Library Science at the University of Sofia (Bulgaria) during the academic year 1998-1999. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, Lauren holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Arizona. She was Director at Whistler Public Library in British Columbia from 2006 to 2011, and is currently a Library Building Specialist for the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program in Boston.

Cathy MacDonald, MLS

Cathy MacDonald has over 40 years of experience in all aspects of academic libraries. Her library career included extensive experience in reference and administration and culminated in 1994 when Cathy became the Dean of College Resources for Kwantlen College a large regional college in the greater Vancouver area.When Kwantlen became a University in 2009 her title changed to University Librarian.Throughout her career Cathy played a lead role in planning,renovating and implementing new libraries. She has extensive experience and understanding of the role of the university library in the Canadian academic environment.  Cathy has  exceptional planning skills, and has managed large staff groups  in complex union environments. Cathy retired as University Librarian in April 2013.
